Ah, gotta love the otherkin.

For those of you who don't know, otherkin are people who believe they have the spirit of something non-human. It can be an animal, vampire, demon, DRAGON, alien, whatever.

It gets on my nerves that a lot of people compare otherkin to transsexuals. For example:

"If you should be able to transition to a man, why can't Otherkin transition to animals/vampires?"

Well, first of all, most of the things otherkins think they are (mermaids, naga, unicorns, ligers) don't exist. Second, a gender transition does not require the transformation of basic fundamental parts of my body. I am not adding/removing legs, restructuring my face, adding teeth/claws... or anything else ridiculous like that. I'm taking hormones and having my tits cut off. Maybe I'll have a surgery to create a neophallus, which is still a far cry from having scales tattooed all over my body.

Also, unlike otherkin, I have a clinical diagnosis that was given to me by professionals. Gender identity is determined by roughly 50 genes in mice... it isn't unreasonable to believe that this may be true for humans as well. Species, however, is something that one cannot mistaken. There is no, "I think I'm a dragon" gene. There are, however, "I think I'm a man/woman" genes. We have yet to PROVE this in humans but there is a lot of suggestive evidence. It's an educated guess.

Transsexuals are not comparable to otherkin/furries at all. They have nothing in common. Come up with a new argument. :]
